ER party

It was so awesome to be able to see my co-workers in a different light other than the busy ER department in which I work. I think we look pretty good as 'ho's!

And how 'bout that pimpin' husband of mine? I know you're all jealous!

Mel's pond

I'm pretty proud of my summer project, a little fish pond. Not bad, eh?

A Child Loaned

"I’ll lend you for a little time

A child of Mine," He said.

"For you to love the while she lives,

And mourn for when she’s dead.

It may be six or seven years

Or twenty-two or three,

But will you, till I call her back

Take care of her for Me?

She’ll bring her charms to gladden you,

And should her stay be brief,

You’ll have her lovely memories

As solace for your grief."

"I cannot promise she will stay,

Since all from Earth return,

But there are lessons taught down there

I want this child to learn.

I’ve looked this wide world over

In My search for teachers true,

And from the throngs that crowd life’s lanes,

I have selected you;

Now will you give her all your love,

Nor think the labour vain,

Nor hate Me when I come to call

And take her back again ?"

"I fancied that I heard them say,

'Dear Lord, Thy will be done,

For all the joy Thy child shall bring,

For the risk of grief we’ll run.

We’ll shelter her with tenderness,

We’ll love her while we may,

And for the happiness we’ve known,

Forever grateful stay.

But should the angels call for her

Much sooner then we planned,

We’ll brave the bitter grief that comes

And try to understand.'"

Mel's pregnant!

Wow - we're expecting a baby... what an absolutely incredible gift from God. It came as quite a shock and surpise to us. We thought having children was not in God's plans for us; turns out we just had to learn a little patience!

It's hard to say, but we figure I'm about 8 weeks gestation, which would make the baby about an inch long already. His bones are forming, he's got little webbed fingers and toes, and his tongue has begun to develop (I think he's sticking it out at us already). All we can say is wow. God is so incredibly amazing.

ahhh... Mexico

There's nothing like Mexico for a good dose of Vitamin D!

Is this gonna work?

New to the world of blogging, but here I go...
Okay, I'll start with a little about us. Pete's currently in school at the U of L; he graduated with a degree in finance about 5 years ago, but has been floundering since, unsure of a career direction. He had been installing cabinets when he decided that chartered accounting was for him. So, back to school for the additional 8 courses needed. Hopeful completion date: June '07

I am an emergency room nurse in the Lethbridge hospital. I love my job. The sicker, bloodier and grosser the better. Not that I wish illness on anyone, but if you're gonna get sick, I'm your woman.

We live in a trailer park in Coaldale. I'm sitting here in a mumu with curlers in my hair. Pete has just finished beating me, my blood splatters on his aptly-named wife-beater. That's okay, I should have listened the first time. You know, he just informed me today why my feet are shorter than his: it's so I can stand closer to the sink! Makes sense, doesn't it?

Seriously, we are very blessed. We have a great marriage and it keeps getting better. Sure, we have our quabbles, but they always bring us closer. We've been able to do alot of travelling...Mexico twice, California for 3 months, Michigan for 5 weeks, England for 2, and Mexico again in February D.V.

We both love sports. Pete plays in a men's hockey league in Lethbridge (he's pretty good, I might add). I play hockey with a bunch of women from the church, and I try to get out and play shinny hockey once or twice a week with some fellas in Lethbridge. I'm not very good, but they're good sports about letting me come out and skate with them. I also play soccer in an indoor league. Pete's got his golf and baseball in the summer, and I have my waterskiing and outdoor soccer. Keeps us busy.

Other than that, not much to us. Spend time with the family, love having friends over (I love to cook!), gardening, scrapbooking, helping out with church stuff. The Lord has blessed us in so many ways. Sometimes it's easy to get caught up in our daily lives, but it's so amazing when you really stop and think why we're even here on this earth.

So, anyone out there, feel free to "blog" us (is that the right term?) Look forward to hearing from you!
